About the college trip, I honestly thought that this college trip was extremely helpful for us 9th graders. Not only did we learn about college but we were also surrounded by a bunch of supportive people. This trip helped us in so many ways. We learned about transcripts, the college life, credits, courses you can take in college, grades you need to get in order to get into your dream college, names of colleges, how to write recommendation letters, how to write proper essays, and so much more. Personally, I think that talking and getting advice about college now is a step in the right direction in becoming successful in the future. It is a good thing we are learning about college now because we can start working hard now. We know what to expect and can start striving to do our best in 9th grade, continuing on to 12th grade since colleges look at your high school scores/grades.
Not only that but during this trip, we also got to learn more about not only our peers but the students that were previously in TYWLS but are now in college or have been to college. They told us stories about life for them in their colleges and the decisions they made during high school. Hearing their stories helped because now I can follow their footsteps and/or learn from the mistakes they have made. They gave out a lot of really good advice about how to survive college. They also gave out free notebooks, shirts, pens, and free lunch. So I mean, it was a plus plus in all ways and I had a great time there. I am glad that we were able to receive such an amazing opportunity, it was truly a great experience.
